New Layouts

What to do when you're working and have a massive headache...update the blog! I tinkered a lot with the blog today, primarily adding tags to the sidebar so you can find past posts by topic. I hope that makes finding creative ideas much easier.

The I looked around and noticed that a lot of the new layouts I've been working on aren't here on the blog. So they've all been photographed and I'll more this week.

These two layouts are inspired by the Heidi Swapp Collections from Glimmer Mist which are kind of an urban/grunge/rocker/chic look. Kind of hard to describe, but here's what I came up with!

This first layout plays with layering different screens with the glimmer mist to get both positive and negative frames. I had to practice a couple of times before I got the look I was imagining. Then I used several of the Heidi Swapp "ir-Resitable" embellisments to accent the layout.

There's a stamped border (also from the Heidi Swapp collection) under the ruffled border, made out of...you guessed it....paper towels. The rose is from paper towels, too! And if you've glimmer misted, you know you have plenty of beautiful paper towels to play with!

This layout features Meadowlark from My Mind's Eye and I used the Heidi Swapp screen to trace my crest mat. I also accented with more of the glimmer misted ir-resitable chips. The ribbon is from Lush, also My Mind's Eye. I was going for a "Twilight" look, but alas I haven't read the books or watched the series. How did I do? Be honest...it's ok!

More tomorrow!

Hit the Beach

All of the Tattered Angels' Seaside Collection came on Friday and I couldn't wait to play with it! Here's what I came up with!

I combined the Under the Sea screens, Glimmer Glass and Seaside Colors for this "snorkle view" layout!

Heat the Glimmer Glass and watch it curl!

I combined the On the Shore Screens, Coastal Breeze Stamps and Glimmer Chips for this beach layout! I love the different layers of color!

Both of these layout will be available as class June 22nd or 24th.
Choose one or both! Anytime, All Day; $25.

Kit contains a full pack of Glimmer Chips or Glimmer Glass
which is a $12 value!

And you won't want to miss Monika's Seaside Album class July 8th.
2-5pm or 6-9pm' $45

Here are some of my faves from her book!

What Am I Supposed to Do With This?

One of my jobs is to answer the question what am I supposed to do with this? If I don't know...I figure it out. Here are some projects that I challenged myself with this week.

This accordion album features the new Glimmer Chip Tiles from Tattered Angels. They're a large format embossed chipboard (4"x7" I think). I glimmer misted them, punched holes on both sides and laced the pieces together with ribbon from American Crafts. These chips soak up Glimmer Mist wonderfully and can also be used in altered art projects like garlands and as mats or other embellishments on your scrapbook layout. Make sure you ink the surface of the chip tiles to bring out the embossed details!!!

Graphic 45 is known for their beautiful vintage inspired papers but leave alot of people stumped as to what to with them. "It's so beautiful, I don't want to cover it up" is the most common comment. So with this layout, I took the main paper from their Renaissance Faire collection and cut 3 strips that captured the essence of the paper. I cropped the paper, just like I would crop a photo. Then I created a layout with papers from the rest of the collection and used the cropped papers as the focal point. I also couldn't resist adding a locket from the Dove of the East Paris Vintage collection. Incidentally, the rest of the layout was created with the backside of papers from the Renaissance Faire collection...which are just as beautiful as the front~

Last but not least, I showed you a sneak peak last time of this layout featuring goodies from Melissa Frances. I challenged myself to find a way to use the vintage crepe paper that I've heard so much about. It's feaured on this layout as a gathered border (after a refresher course on the running stich from my mom) and in the rosettes on the left side. I want you to suspend reality for a moment and pretend that these roses will actually fit in your scrapbook...even if they are almost an inch high! Some of the flowers are also dusted with the vintage mica flakes from Melissa Frances. If you're wondering about the gorgeous paper, it's from her French Twist collection and it is fabulous!!!

If you're in town this Saturday, stop by the shop from 3-5pm for a raffle, secret sale and make n take...time to kick off the fall scrapbook season!
