Crafting Treasures Await You at Our 1st Trunk Show

There are no jokes here! April 1st is going to be such a fun day at the shop. Not only is Monika Thomas coming to teach us a fabulous Tattered Angels Class, but she's bringing us a trunk show. What does that mean? You're going to have the opportunity to shop from some amazing brands that I don't currently carry at the shop....such as Unity Stamp Company.

Check out the sample that Monika made with Unity Stamps!

Other companies in our Trunk Show...
Magenta

Earth Art Stamps

Petaloo

Plus, I'm going to have a full reorder in of classic Tattered Angels products. Remember, new CHA releases are not shipping yet...but I'll let you know when I have them in!

Here are some answers to some questions I've been hearing:

1. Can I come to the Trunk Show even if I can't take the class?

Absolutely! We'll have the Trunk Show set up between 2pm & 8pm on the 1st so swing on by even if you can't stay for the class.

2. If I shop the Trunk Show am I taking sales away from Sonja's Scrapbook Spot?

So loyal & kind of you to ask, but no worries there. Trunk show sales are still treated like regular sales for me, so there is no competition there!

3. Will there be a Trunk Show Discount?

Class participants will recieve their regular class discount of 10% even on Trunk Show items, but no other discounts will be offered or honored during the show. However, if these are companies you regularly mail order from; you'll be saving on shipping!

4. Can I still sign up for the Tattered Angel's Nature Book Class?

Class kits are currently SOLD OUT, but I may be able to get them for you if you let me know no later than Thursday, Marhc 25th.

Hope to see you on the 1st!

Hoppy Easter...Almost

St. Patrick's Day and Easter always seem to sneak up on me. I missed St. Patty's this year...no crafty things but I did manage to wear green shoes. So I'm getting a jump on Easter. In the last post I showed you the Easter Egg Glazed cardstock from Bazzill and what it looked like after I Glimmer Misted it. Here's the layout I made with all those eggs!

I cut out some of the eggs, pop dotted them and added them as a border to the bottom of the Scenery Paper from Abbey Road (My Mind's Eye).

In the theme of scraps...I had an extra chipboard tree, also Abbey Road, from another layout.

The title features another few scraps & brad from Abbey Road and a Sticker from SRM Stickers.

Ok, confession time...(I feel like I should have a camera pointed on me like on a reality show). I think my Glimmered Eggs would have turned out much more vibrantly if I had stuck to 4 basic colors, not layering so many and if I hadn't oversoaked the page, leading to bleed through. But live & learn, right?

Mention this blog post and receive a free sheet of the stickers used. Expires 3/31/10

Happy scrapping,

Sonja

Here a Scrap, There a Scrap, Everywhere a Scrap, Scrap

Scrapbookers are surrounded by scraps...it all comes with the territory. We love our paper and can't stand to part with even the tiniest morsel. So here are some layouts I came up with scraps this week.

I loved this Caterpillar paper from American Crafts last year and rediscovered a scrap when I was cleaning out the back room. I used my ripping ruler (Fiskars) to create borders and accented with ric rac from American Crafts & May Arts. The Caterpillar is made from layered circles of Bazzill Bling and the background sheet and mat are Bazzill Dotted Swiss.

Also while cleaning, I found scraps from the My Mind's Eye collection Abbey Road. I cut the scraps into 3x3 squares, inked and layered into a checkerboard pattern. Some of them are pop dotted. Giant Ric Rac from May Arts covers up the part where the layers got scrunched up. I accented with a title and die cut from the same collection and rhinestones from LUSH.

This week we've been busy with the Quite Contrary Variety Class featuring an Options Kit from Pinecone Press. There are lots of scraps left over which created this layout. The varying lengths, patterns, as well as inking and pop dotting created a lot of texture. I pulled it together with bright red accents, including the ribbon borders and the photo mat.

On a side note...today I turned this Glazed Cardstock....

...into this with Glimmer Mist.

Tomorrow, I'll show you what I'm going to do with it, so check back in.

Sonja

PS....all of the papers shown in the blog are in stock now!

All Over The Map...

My creativity has been all over the map this week....

First, I was so pleased to learn I can Glimmer Mist those wonderful resin appliques from Melissa Frances. It took a few coats, and a sponge brush to work it into the detail work but it looks great. I'm sure the new Tattered Angels Glam & Glaze will do the trick nicely, too. Incidentally, the mini book case from Kaisercraft is also Glimmered. I put together a fun display for the My Mini Memories books....they fit perfectly!

I kept playing with Quite Contrary from My Mind's Eye...such a fun collection and so versatile. The first features a gathered paper boarder that's stapled together. I also layered the sticker embellishments in the lower right corner. LOVE that MME added stickers to their collection!

I scraplifted this layout from the MME idea vault from MME designer Tiffani Smith. The only difference is I used the micro letters from My Little Shoe Box instead of printing them out. That's Jennifer W.'s son...stinkin' cute!

Then I moved on and played with two collections that arrived in the fall, but I never created anything with them. The first is from Glitz's Detour Collection which is just perfect for boys! I added doodle border rub ons from Glitz and layered journaling stickers for a fun collage.

This month's issue of Card Trends had several cut cards from Cosmo Cricket's collection The Boyfriend. I didn't make cards, but did put together this fun layout. I just love everything about this collection and it's so versatile....school, boys, college hangouts, vintage stuff...you know like way back in the 80s....anyhow, super fun to play with.

Hope you have a super crafty weekend!
